Heartland Conservatory of Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9-level program that combines high-quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level VII & Partnering will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Rachel Vickrey who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level VII & Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

In 2019 my family moved to Omaha from San Juan, Puerto Rico. We wanted our daughter, a highschool freshman, to continue her dance studies so we enrolled her in HCD. We hoped that ballet would give her the stability she needed after our huge move. We moved to Omaha from California and were nervous about where to send our daughter for dance. She’s been at a very good studio in CA and we wanted something that was the same level. We found out that Heartland Conservatory of Dance was also an RDA (Regional Dance America) certified studio so we knew the quality of Dance education would be great. We have not been disappointed!! The teachers care about our daughter personally and the rates are very reasonable, they are the place for girls who want to be “real” dancers!!!

Our family moved from Seattle to Omaha this past year, and were hoping that we could find a dance studio for our daughter that was of the same caliber as her previous ballet school, Pacific Northwest Ballet. We were fortunate enough to learn of Rachel Vickrey and Robin Welch through a lucky conversation with a stranger on an airplane to Omaha. Once we contacted Rachel, we learned that she and Robin had been connected personally and professionally to our daughter’s previous ballet teacher- we knew instantly that we had found the right place. Our daughter has enjoyed every minute of her classes at Heartland Conservatory of Dance and has even mentioned on occasion that she enjoys dancing here more than she did back in Seattle because of the personal attention she gets from her teachers along with many more opportunities to perform. The teachers at HCD truly care about each of their students and strive to provide the absolute highest quality ballet instruction in all of Omaha. The dancers learn wonderful technique, build discipline, make lasting friendships and are encouraged daily to be their best selves in and out of the dance studio. HCD offers more than professional dance instructors, there is also the opportunity to to perform throughout the community, by auditioning for Heartland Youth Ballet. Miss Rachel helps her students grow and develop both physically and mentally while building their self esteem and confidence. Her studio is absolutely beautiful! I particularly like that she provides daytime classes two mornings a week, this is popular for mom’s with little ones who prefer morning classes. This has been popular, because many if these mom’s also visit together while watching their child dance.

We are the parents of six and as any parent knows children keep you busy. We have learned to prioritize and make every minute matter. For dance, we hit the jackpot with Rachel and Heartland Conservatory of Dance. Our eldest is a ballet enthusiast and so I inevitably spent many hours researching dance studios in the metro. There is no better instruction in Omaha than Heartland Conservatory. All of the teachers themselves have practiced ballet for many years, most even at the professional level, and their passion for dance ignites a fire in their students. Ballet is the foundation for all dance, so why not build that foundation strong? Don’t wait until it’s too late to realize that your child hasn’t been receiving proper instruction. Heartland Conservatory of Dance also offers all other types of dance, there is literally something for everyone. I would be remiss to not also mention the incredible facilities. I love that I can watch my daughters dance without them knowing it. I think the windows are distracting but here there are cameras in all the dance studios and TVs in the waiting area where you can see your child at all times without disrupting the class.

Welcome to Heartland Conservatory of Dance, directed by Rachel Vickrey. This school reflects Rachel’s artistic sensibilities, educational principles, and love of kids. Quality dance is a tradition for Rachel. She grew up watching her parents perform in major classical ballet companies and then teaching in some of the best schools in the nation. Following in their footsteps, Rachel also danced professionally and has taught ballet, tap and jazz in dance schools around the nation. Her commitment and feeling of responsibility to each child’s training is why Heartland Conservatory of Dance is known for superior dance training and individual attention in a nurturing environment. The Conservatory provides the care and attention that each dancer needs and deserves to grow to their full potential through participation in student showcases, full-length ballets (in collaboration with Heartland Youth Ballet), and other community programs.

Heartland Youth Ballet is the official company of Heartland Conservatory of Dance, a member of the elite pre-professional ballet organization, The Ballet Alliance. TBA’s mission is to raise the standards of American Ballet through education, performance, and community engagement.
