Heartland Youth Ballet

The Heartland Youth Ballet is a pre-professional dance company dedicated to the growth and development of ballet students and is committed to bringing the art of dance to the community. We believe that training at a high level in ballet is not only an artistic pursuit but also a transformative journey that yields life long benefits whether you strive to become a professional dancer or not. Directed by former professional dancer Rachel Vickrey, HYB is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit and is the performing wing of Heartland Conservatory of Dance.
Heartland Youth Ballet is a Member Company of The Ballet Alliance, an association of pre-professional ballet companies.
TBA Member companies share four days of seminars, master classes and social events each spring at their Festival. Evening performances showcase the member companies and demonstrate the growth they have achieved throughout the year.
As a member company of The Ballet Alliance, Heartland Conservatory of Dance can offer students:
- Gain perspective to elevate their accomplishments! The Festivals empower dancers to reach their fullest potential and stimulate young dancers to grow as artists and individuals. Dancers will meet other dancers from around the country who share the same passion and dedication to dance.
- Receive the highest level of training possible! Each member company dancer participates in three days of master classes and performances at TBA Festivals. Classes are taught in a wide variety of dance techniques by the country’s leading professionals.
- Participate in on-site auditions at TBA Festivals! Dancers have the opportunity to audition for scholarships to some of the country’s top summer, winter, and year-round dance programs, including college and university programs. Over $60,000 of scholarships are awarded annually.
- Be seen by professional recruiters! Dancers are seen by college and professional training program recruiters as well as artistic directors of programs throughout the US.
- Gain insight into the professional dance world and beyond! Company dancers are exposed to inventive choreography by emerging artists and experience master classes and choreographic works by highly esteemed professional dance educators.
